Biography

Sashel Meunier is a Franco-Mexican artist born in 1990 in Mexico City. She works as a filmmaker, photographer, and visual artist, standing out for her deep curiosity in exploring new environments and a pronounced introspection.

During her childhood, she grew up in an unconventional family environment for the time. Her parents, both computer science professionals, separated when she was still very young. She is the eldest of three half-brothers.

She spent most of her childhood in Mexico City under the care of her maternal family. From an early age, she excelled in drawing skills. At the age of eight, she emigrated with her mother and brother to Spain, where she continued her studies and received her first formal recognition for her artistic work. After several years of traveling through Europe and some Asian countries, she returned to her hometown to complete her academic education. Enriched by the cultural and visual diversity experienced during her travels, she decided to pursue a vocation in the arts. During secondary school, she attended various workshops in photography, painting, and languages, and later pursued higher studies in Cinematography, a discipline she practiced for several years.

In 2012, she married Mauricio, a filmmaker, photographer, and writer. A year later, her first son was born, and in 2015, her second daughter. She decided to pause her professional career to fully dedicate herself to motherhood. In 2019, she resumed her artistic activities by enrolling in the Faculty of Arts at the Autonomous University of Querétaro, where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts.

Her plastic and visual work has been featured in museums and galleries across Mexico. Some of her pieces are part of private collections both nationally and internationally.

She is currently conducting research on the daily influence of electronic elements and their impact on interpersonal relationships, reflecting on the depersonalization and dehumanization of the self.
